Started as an online bookstore, Amazon has become the biggest company in the world and the second largest private employer in the US. Bezos will be stepping down and into an exec chair role. He will have more time to focus on the Bezos Earth Fund, his Blue Origin spaceship company, The Washington Post and the Amazon Day 1 Fund. Congrats on one of the most illustrious careers ever.
For $1.1 billion, Uber acquired Drizly this week. Drizly is an alcohol delivery app that will eventually integrate with Uber Eats. Drizly is different than other third party apps in that they do not supply a fleet of drivers, they simply provide the technology to facilitate the orders. With seemingly low costs, seems like a great pickup by Uber.
My homie Ryan put me on this browser this week, highly recommend making the switch to Brave on mobile and desktop. Founded by Brendan Eich, creator of Javascript and co-founder of Mozilla. They tout unparalleled security, no data gathering and no ad tracking. The functionality and interface is slick which has made the transition very easy.
Another friend tip here, late to the party but just discovered the use of Notion. All in one place to keep your notes, goals, journal entries, movies you want to watch - everything! If you were like me, I kept dozens of random notes on the Notes App. After recently transitioning I have been able to organize everything in one place.
Stay well.
